‘Every country has its own character of light, it may be the harsh brilliance of Africa, the sensual beauty of India, or the constantly changing colours of Connemara. As an artist I love trying to capture these nuances on canvas, and find it deeply satisfying to be absorbed in the process of painting.
For all the excitement of foreign travel I still get great pleasure returning to the Maam valley where I live, and it is here that I see the world with fresh eyes, giving me a constant source of inspiration for my paintings. ‘ (Richard Ward)
